I don't know how I feel about this. We got some help down low with Smith, but I was looking forward to seeing Brackins. Willie Green's game seems similar to Thorntons.

I'll trust the management and be happy with this one though.

Green is an expiring.

ETA: He could also back-up CP

Don't mind getting rid of Songalia, but I liked Brackins...

definitely strikes me as weird. won't have a major impact one way or the other, but i'm surprised they're giving up on brackins so quickly.

i've been down with all of demps's moves so far, so i'll shelve my doubts for now and just roll with it.

Sixers fans initial reaction is pretty ecstatic, not sure I like it either. On the plus side we traded 2 6'9 - 6'10 stretch 4's for a 7'0 stretch 4. Green also seems to be a decent defender from what I'm reading.

I wonder how this effects the roster because now you'd think a guy like Pops will need to be on the active roster. You either have to use Thornton and Belinelli at the backup PG spot or have Belinelli or Green inactive if you go with someone else at backup PG.

CP3/Belinelli?
MT/Green
Ariza/Peja/QPon
West/Smith/Pops
Okafor/Gray

i was excited about brackins, and interested to see how he'd fare against legit competition during the season. green is a nice acquisition though, he's like DTDB except actually kind of good.

smith was a nice prospect out of college, i know he had a knee injury a couple years back. i could see him and aaron gray protecting the paint

I'd feel a lot better about this if Smith weren't a 7-foot pansy. We need more rebounding and defense down low.

id rather have green start (he's started a ton of games for philly) and keep MT as the 6th man. the role just suits him so well, eventually he'll be a starter but the thing that killed this team the previous couple of seasons after we lost pargo was not having any scoring impact off the bench.

Are you serious? Because of this trade? Brackins is an untested rookie with little post game and not good rebounding who wouldn't have seen more than 8 minutes a game.

Songalia is a worse version of David West, all he can do is hit spot up mid range shots.

This trade is not going to hurt the Hornets this season.

Smith's net PER at PF from last year is pretty bad, -5.4, but he does out rebound his opponent by 2.2 rebs per 48 minutes. LINK Songaila's net per was even worse, -8.5, and his rebounding is terrible. He gets out rebounded by 4.6 per 48 LINK

So Smith is definitely >>>>>> Songaila and Brackins already showed his softer side in Summer League where the only impressive thing he did was shoot 3s.

Because of everything, this team has done nothing to improve on the crap we saw last year.

Ariza? Healthy Paul? More Thornton? Improved Okafor? Improved coaching? Should I keep going?

athletic 7 footer?

This is what this team needs. We all saw what Chris Paul did to tyson, we have been lacking tall athleticism on this team ever since we traded tyson away.

Songolia was nothing special and this season his only value to the team was his expiring contract. Brackins, from his performance in summer league, looked like he needed a year to develop. Now this trade could have been made at any time so I wanted to see what brakins had in TC, but I guess its better to have your team set before TC.

Philly doesnt use their players to their full potential because Igadula takes 50 shots a game. Size and length is what we need at the 5.

I trust in Demps

Hey, at least we now have 2 true 7-footers on the team.

Any chances that this trade was made to work up a package for someone else?
