Didn't get to watch much of the draft so catching up today, but apparently Herb's name was thrown around a lot last night, both as a defensive comp for Dyson and also for other guys in the draft. Flattering, but not sure we are fully appreciating "Not on Herb".

Herb's defense the last half of the season was elite, DPOY elite. Even if Herb doesn't get any better on defense (I'm sure he will) he will still be a first team all defense guy for the next 6-8 years.

I like Dyson as a pick and his all around potential, and if he even gets to 75% of peak Herb as a defender it will not be good for opposing teams.

I think most would view Dyson as having a higher ceiling than Herb. They're about the same size, but Dyson moves a little better laterally and I think he shows better awareness/IQ off ball.

It's kind of funny but for as long as we've complained about our talent/depth on the wings, we've got a bit of a log jam there now.

BI, Herb, Trey, Dyson, Naji, could throw CJ in there.

The key to getting to the NBA Finals is perimeter defense.

The best three point shooting teams advanced deep into the playoffs and now we have a minimum 2 bonafide wing defenders

Can someone post the Herb photo where he is giving the “Game Blouses” look when he did a reverse dunk.

And he won’t be as old as Herb is now until after his 4th season.

For sure Herb can improve here. But outside of measurables Herb has something else as a defender, a defensive next gear that very few guys in the league have. I can't even truly describe it, one example was the first half of the Spurs play in game.

All that said, I'm excited about Dyson and his potential.

Only one of those was on our roster this time last year. Two if you count Trey getting drafted.

We got more wings than a Chernobyl chicken right about now.

Imagine Herb comes out the game for a breather and Dyson and Jose come in.

No rest for that team's backcourt.

The very first scouting video I saw of Dyson Daniels showed him:

-step into a lane and steal a pass and go dunk it
-poke out the ball from a driver and start a fastbreak
-poke out the ball from behind the dribbler
-make a chase-down block at the glass
-block a face-to-face jumper
-block a jumper from behind the shooter
-cross the far-side post and accelerate to the perimeter and block a 3 pt attempt
-get skinny thru a screen and get in-front of & stop a driver

It was like watching a Heb Jones highlight reel.

The real question will be what will his Not on Herb catch-phrase be? "Dead End Dyson"? "Detour Daniels"? "Saucy Aussie"?
