re: Gordon agrees to a max deal with Phoenix

He would get to be the big star in Phoenix, with Nash leaving. He wouldn't get that treatment here, with most of the team's marketing plan behind Davis. Might be something that is driving some of this.

So we give him to the Suns and take Minnesota's players?

You really overvalue the he out of Gordon if you think he will pull that type of deal.

hypothetically if we did trade him what could we expect in return??

He hasn't said anything directly about not wanting to play in New Orleans. Until you can provide some sort of direct quote stating that then I will not believe it.
To be fair, CP3 didn't directly say he wanted out of New Orleans until the very end IIRC. It's really starting to look like he'd rather be elsewhere. of course he wont say it directly cause he still has to play here for at least another year (unless we trade him). I may be overreacting but it's hard to defend EG here.

If he signs the offer sheet he knows we are matching it
Or that the Hornets would be willing to trade him

Source with knowledge of New Orleans' strategy says the team still plans to match despite his comments about wanting to be in Phoenix.

Dude. He said Phoenix is the right franchise for him and his heart is on Phoenix.
For crying out loud, what more do u need?

They'd certainly have to give up Gortat and another player or two or some picks. If they won't part with him then we tell Phoenix to frick off and keep Gordon, maybe exploring trade options if he really wants out (which makes no sense).

New Orleans has claimed all along that it will match any offer Gordon receives, but Gordon is hoping the Hornets do not match.
Gordon said Tuesday night that his preference is to play for the Suns, not the Hornets.

Huh? Why let him go when we could at least sign and trade him and get some pretty decent pieces back? And even though I'm not happy with his comment, it's a pretty big leap from that to him acting like a huge bitch in NOLA while he makes $14m/yr.
Of course it would need to involve the team getting something in return. My point is, do you really want someone here that doesn't want to be?

Gortat is pretty damn good and they some other OK players on the roster.
Yes, I agree, Gortat is a good player, but does the future in Phoenix exceed the potential of the Hornets in the near future? We drafted Davis, who we all believe will be outstanding over the year, along with Rivers, who all though is a bit of a gamble, has the talent and drive to be a star. This trio really could be something. I have no clue why he'd want no part of it.

He's not gonna say, "frick NEW ORLEANS!"

Match and ship him to Houston

Boom. End of discussion. If we are a damn good team for those 4 years and he still wants out then he's just an idiot and I don't know what's going on in his head.

Clearly wanted to be the brow - er, face of the franchise, knows that won't happen here, so sign and trade him and let PHX deal with his oft-injured self.

What do you need to hear him say?

It also said it was a prepared statement. Do you expect him to be in Phoenix and say, "Yeah, Phoenix is cool. I think I'd rather play for the Hornets, though."
Posted on 7/3/12 at 10:10 pm to MrPappagiorgio
That's impossible.
If NO matches the offer sheet, Gordon can't be traded for a year.
