Murphy III shot 42% from inside the arc last season but has bumped that up to 62% this year. Over 60% of his shots are worth three points. Another 25% are dunks or putbacks from within the 3-foot restricted area. Murphy III does his best to avoid the midrange areas where Brandon Ingram likes to work.

There are 72 players that have hoisted more than 100 total three-pointers through December 1. Only 10 are making more than Murphy III. Stephen Curry (Warriors), Donovan Mitchell (Cavs) Desmond Bane (Grizzlies), and Tyrese Maxey (76ers) are among those just eclipsing Murphy III's 41.3% on the year.

Dude is turning into a stud. Can't believe how deep we are on the wing now.

Thanks for posting. I commented on a game thread marveling at how well Murphy’s all around offensive game seems to be developing. His production near the basket so far this season is not something I expected this early from him.

Guy is looking more and more like a future cornerstone.

No. Was thinking about it earlier. Murph and BI are similar type players but t murph has that more violence to him w maybe a better 3 stroke

I was coming on to post this exact thought. But thanks for pointing out Chad’s embarrassingly wrong take for me.

BI consistently creates his own shots and doesn’t need help doing so, with a cold blooded black mamba like clutch gene to end games. Come back to me when you see Murphy doing this.

Not saying Murphy isn’t very solid. But he’s currently a catch and shoot 3&D wing.

Similar type as in replaceable players in same position on team. Bit different styles like I noted

Trey basically has gotten to his optimal NBA draft projected max potential 20 games into year 2.

This. BI is a point forward a la Durant. Murphy isn’t a primary ball handler/playmaker and will never be.

BI is replaceable if they are Giannis, Durant, Tatum or LeBron

ETA: I wouldn’t trade BI for Giannis, Durant or LeBron. And you’d have to convince me for Tatum

You really should quit while you’re behind.

This is silly. Different games. There’s also been talk of him maybe making Herb expendable which is slightly less silly, but still not quite the same. I think he’s only going to get bigger and stronger to the point he’s your future Nance replacement. A jumbo sized wing that can guard down and handle 4s and some 5s. I know people want Zion to be our small-ball 5 of the future, but honestly it may be Trey there instead

Remember when we were so thirsty for a wing player that we paid out the dick for Solomon Hill? Good times
