Monty was terrible. Absolutely putrid.

Suns are decent this year tho. Almost .500

Gentry had a deeper roster and it still looks like this year's squad will finish with virtually the same record when it's all said and done. Neither guy got the job done. Not sure what the answer is but I can't last another season watching this putrid defense. There needs to be some soul searching this offseason.

Gentry may have been a better coach than Van Gundy

Nah, I feel like Gentry would have Zion taking 4 3s a game at this point instead of having one of the most efficient scoring seasons ever.

And our defense would be just as bad if not worse.

First of all...I feel like Van Gundy's staff was put together on the cheap this offseason. To me, it is not an impressive staff at all. I think there will need to be some changes and he needs to get a better staff this offseason.

Second, a multi-time retread like SVG just shouldn't have been hired. They really, really should have taken the chance on an up and coming coach from a really good tree/org.

Next year is it for SVG. Griffin will almost certainly add some players with more defensive versatility, and he will have a normal offseason. They've got to be better next year. Much better.

Definitely. And Griff has to help Stan out by giving him enough defensive talent if he's going to ask him to win with defense. If we go into next season with Lonzo as the lead defender I'll be pretty concerned. 2 of Lonzo, Jaxson, Zion, Ingram, NAW will need to take a pretty big leap on defense for keeping more or less the same core to work.

a 10w-5L run the last 15 should get them into 10th.
i think in playin games point zion will be picked up at or before halfcourt so he cannot get up a head of steam.

Well, I think that NAW was making it. And he's a hard worker, so I expect him to still get better in the offseason. I think that Jaxson is also making that leap.

I don't know about the others: I think that Zion is making some progress, but I don't know about a leap. BI seems like the same poor defensive player that he was a year ago. Lonzo also seems like the same defensive player that he was last year.
