Christian Clark tweet:
In other words, Gabriel is almost physically ready, but he needs a lot of practice (or mop-up duty) to understand the system and be ready to significantly contribute.

SVG says he’s close to be available but says there’s a “long way” off before Wenyen could be able to play because he’s missed so much.

There's literally no time to get a full practice in with this schedule. They're probably going to have to make him learn on the fly.

There’s also no guarantee he was ever a part of the plan anyways.
I feel like there has been this growing head cannon about Gabriel since Hayes has struggled, but he is just a guy at this point. Brought in to fill the end of the roster and who up to this point has looked really raw and has been an overall net negative player on the court on both teams he was on last season.
I don’t think anyone is going to convince anyone else they are some Gabriel expert either, but if you look at the footage that is out there of his games, he has a tendency to do a lot of things that I don’t think SVG is going to like, for instance he makes a lot of high risk passes and gets himself into foul trouble very easily.

Jaxson Hayes looked much improved last night. Maybe he can be our backup center yet

This is what I never understood about these signings (Gabriel, Willy and Thornwell) much better players available towards the end of FA when players start being cut.
How much more valuable would Dedmon or Napier be right now?

As I understand it, we couldn't add that much salary and remain under the tax.

We couldn't even sign a legit 15th player as the minimum salary would put us in the tax.

I am talking about waiting to sign those 3 as nobody was taking them and potentially seeing what was on the market.
Dedmon is now a free agent

With the way this season is you couldn't afford to wait to add players. As it is Gabriel is behind and he was technically with the team.

He's only a young guy.
Vets like Dedmon and Napier are vets, who would pick things up much quicker

Upgraded to Probable for tonight's game.

Doubt he plays given what SVG has said, but maybe we can get into garbage time (hopefully with us up big) and see some of what he can do. Definitely would give us more athleticism over Melli at the least.

Maybe some time later this week
