Was there. Amazingly, he was being guarded by Walt "Clyde" Frazier, a guy considered to be one of the better defensive guards at that time.

I was there that night. An incredible performance by Pete. And that , I believe, was with no three point line. And they fouled him out on a bogus call or else he would have scored a few more. That is one of my lasting memories with the Jazz along with two nights we broke the attendance records, the first being against Kareem and the Lakers during a Noah's Arc type flood and the second against Dr. J and the 76ers. But I digress. I will have my tape player working overtime tonight with One for the Ages on at the same time while the LSU Coaches Caravan is streaming on line. I miss my live sports but I will have plenty og great entertainment tonight.

If this makes it online someone let me know. I have a friend in the military that is currently in Germany that wants me to dvr and rip it and send it to him and I am way too dumb to know how to do all that.

It'll be like 3 in the morning and I doubt he has access to FoxSportsGo in Germany.

I'm going to DVR it and figure the tech stuff out.

Incredible. I was awestruck as I sat in the Dome on February 25, 1977 and I was awestruck again as I watched it tonight. And that Knicks roster, even the bench, was loaded with a who's who list of basketball history.

Unbelievable mid range game
With 3 point shot he scores at least a 100 in one game
Tell Utah to give us our nickname back, it’s criminal

I was there as well- the thing is, didn't Pistol foul out of the game? I was also thinking back about one questionable offensive foul and another time he scored but they said his foot was on the line. I will have to see replay of the game, your mind gets hazy after 40+ years!

I watched the replay. He fouled out with a little over a minute left on a very questionable offensive foul call. In fact three of his six fouls were charging calls and several of the fouls were very questionable. I am being generous when I use the word questionable because I don't feel like ranting and raving about a call that happened 43 years ago like I will be doing about the NOLA No Call if I live to be 110. The ref was a very young Dick Bavetta who was a long time official in the league.

The next season, on Thanksgiving night, they played the Nuggets. Less than 2 min to play, and down by 8. Pete scored 10, including the game winner- a running 30’ hook shot, to win it. He also stole 2 inbounds passes during that stretch. Was amazing. Would love to see a video of it.

My biggest takeaway was how great the announcers were. Anybody know who those guys were? I think they said it at the beginning of the broadcast but I wasn’t paying attention.

Didn't catch their names. But, the Jazz had the greates radio announcer: Rod "Hot Rod" Hundley.
