Preseason Zion was so dominant, the Ringer wrote an article about whether was the best Preseason a player has ever had

LINK

Think about the absurdity of that..no one cares one iota about how good dudes are in preseason, and he was so good, it warranted an article and discussion about how good he was in preseason.

Watch him run in the Duke highlight video... now think when's the last time you've seen Zion sprint in a Pelicans uniform.

Literally last night man. 3rd quarter Zion looked like peak Zion. He's had spots all year where he looked like the best player on the court just like last night when he was sharing it with Tatum and Brown

Then the 4th q happened. Erasing all the good built up.

I think he's closer to being right than what we think.

To be fair this seems like a bit of Ringer clickbait during peak Zion hype period.

He was sprinting just a couple of games ago before he hurt his foot. I remember very clearly thinking holy shite Zion is sprinting

Last night when he beat a 3 on 1 fast break.

I've watched damn near every minute of every game. Zion is way less explosive now than he was in either of those videos. Nobody is saying he can't dunk anymore, but he's not looking down at the rim anymore.

He hit his shoulder on the backboard like 3 games ago

Again, what are y’all watching?

Exactly, his explosiveness has been largely non-existent with the Pelicans that the few times he does it, it's a core memory for the franchise.

I can't wait until he gets right just in time to regress over the summer.

Unfortunately, a gassed Zion in the 4th quarter despite averaging 6th man minutes.

This is wild.

No one is saying he isn't explosive now. But he's worlds more athletic and explosive than he is now, it's not even close...at all.

Like, it's staggering that someone would see him play now and think he was just as explosive as he was during preseason of his rookie year.

23 should be when you're either in or entering your peak physical form.

Man watching that zion and current zion and it looks like we got a bait and switch after the draft with a fatter, less athletic version

He was probably always destined for injuries, but the meniscus set it all off.

Except that he pulled himself out due to being gassed twice last night.

Is he heavier- yes. I think shell had it right- probably 20-25 pounds. 50 pounds? Come on guys.

Okay, maybe he's gotten down to 25 pounds heavier than his Duke weight, but I'm not convinced. He has definitely been 50# heavier at points this season.

You act like 50# is some huge number for a 6'6" guy. I can gain 20 and not look much different, and I'm only 6'1".

He's probably about the same size there.

The first picture is him puffing his chest out after a play which shows his belly. The second picture is him hunched over, so his belly is naturally hidden.

The lighting on the first picture is also a lot softer than that of the 2nd, which is why his arms look more defined.

Agreed but a different toll on your body when you’re carrying too much weight. Again this is no one’s fault but his. I really wish someone in his inner circle would advise this to him- theres an elite level basketball player in there.

Unfortunately, you can't take all that wear back off his knees and ankles.
