Agree, but the comment was made as if his moves were all positives. Trading away players the quality of AD and Jrue for those assets is not a positive overall in terms of the quality of players and has to be taken into account.

Not sure how you could interpret my comment as all his moves being positive. The point was that he’s made out to be this idiot but he probably did a B-/C+ job. Zion is probably a D.

Did they demand respect the way we think someone like Riley would be able do? No, but that's not the same thing as coddling.

To me the "where it all went wrong" moment in the Griff era was picking Ingram over SVG. I'm not saying Stan was a great coach, but I also don't think it's a coincidence that 2 old school, hard asses seem to have gotten the most out of Zion.

I agree, but I also think that it's important to say that Riley can absolutely get away with treating players the way he does -- precisely because he's in Miami, a city in which half the league would love to play. Neither Griff nor Dumars nor anyone else can really do here what Riley and Spoelstra can get away with, because we are a small market, and we also don't have a warm beach in the winter.

As long as Gayle is owner and Dumars is GM they will blow it,no question about it.

This "he shouldn't have coddled" crap is crazy revisionism.

I’ll wait for the 30 for 30 to find out all the crazy work going on behind the scenes. I’m not sure what you call not rehabbing from a hammy for 3 months and then throwing an in yo face video to mgmt. Some fans just as culpable as Griff.

Maybe because you only mentioned the additions and not the costs to get them.

For sure, many fans and media put blinders on regarding Zion and continued to make excuses for the obvious Tom foolery. No pressure at all on ownership or Husky. Ownership just continued to milk the cash cow while putting out an inconsistent product at the fans expense. I actually like Zion and hope for the best for the young man and his career and everything that has occurred is not solely on him, but at some point adults have to step in, in the Pels case it should have been Griff. I don’t buy into the small market narrative and think the org has no alternatives except to acquiescence to the BS. NOLA is a great gritty city, with great folk and deserve a team and players that reflect that. The coddling and excuses have to stop in order to move forward.
