Your bigs were Jahlil, Rookie Hayes, Rookie Melli, Favors, and Rookie Zion.

3 rookies, a barely playable Okafor, and Favors. That’s probably wasn’t a very good idea even from the start.

Right

And again this isn't a huge indictment, just more of a statement of what happened.

We misjudged him. From what we've seen this season, he certainly gets minutes and is at worse, the 3rd big behind Zion/Favors. Given Zion's limited availability and even Favors missing a couple of weeks, Wood could have potentially led all bigs in total minutes played this season if he's the 3rd guy behind Zion/Favors.

Don’t understand the downvote because that’s 100% accurate.

Especially with Jaxson “I haven’t struggled defensively” Hayes.

Based on hindsight, sure. But Wood did not have that information to base his decision on before the season.

we were one pick away from pairing AD and Dame, but instead we got Austin Rivers. That ruins my day every time I think about it.

This really sucked. There were so many good players that were right there, then they weren’t. Baby doc sucked, and was so frustrating to watch.

no we weren’t. Dame was picked 6th in the draft. You’re thinking Drummond

I'm not talking about Wood's decision, this was not his decision.

Had we valued him as a player properly, we would have told him he'd have more minutes available as opposed to him having to fight for a roster spot.

In hindsight, Jalil was really a wasted roster spot. Did not fit with the pace and space scheme we were trying to use, and never contributed despite looking somewhat improved. You kept a 3rd or 4th unit Center in favor of someone more versatile. I don’t think getting Favors was the wrong decision either. There wasn’t much of a market for us.....but if Wood had a roster spot, he’s in that lineup and we likely don’t lose 13 straight.

But we didn't have the advantage of hind sight either to guarantee him that. There was no way to know what injuries would occur before the season began. That is just not realistic.

I think Naz will prove to be the biggest miss from last year's draft class, but to be fair a lot of people missed on him. He seems to be a very good fit especially as he is so cheap and has a very high ceiling. Bol Bol has an extremely high ceiling as well, but can he stay on the floor (see what I did there lol, it's early)
I do really like NAW, Jaxson, Didi and Zion, as it sets up so well for the future, but that'll be tricky in this day and age where there is no premium on patience

We had a great draft and it laid a solid foundation. But I don't like us straddling the line of a rebuild vs trying to field a competitive team. We should be focusing on finding young talent and developing them, while flipping assets to keep the decks clear.

NAW is never going to learn and mature being stuck behind 4 other combo guards. If you want him to succeed, he needs a defined role and minutes. Same with Hayes. You give him a task and challenge him constantly. We should be picking 2-3 guys in the 1st round every year. Keep stocking up Hinkie style. Favors, Holiday, Ball, even Ingram and Reddick should be gone or flipped. We shouldn't be this sentimental...

Again, because we misjudged his value. If building a roster meant making every decision based on hindsight, then anyone would be able to do it.

injuries really don't have much to do with it. Sure, I pointed out that Wood could have led the team in total minutes due to injuries, but he was still good enough to be a 20+ mpg guy even if the team is fully healthy. He got 21mpg this season, he could easily average around that same amount as the first big off the bench behind Zion and Favors.

Not enough roster spots to realistically do this.

You're valuing 1st round picks wayyyyyy too highly.
