I don't know what Dell said, but in signing Elfrid Payton, he went toe-to-toe with one of the greatest shark-agents in NBA history...his name is Aaron Mintz and he reps EP. Now you don't know him, and why would you? Real G's make moves in silence.

Mintz previously had gotten these contracts for his clients:

Allen Crabbe / 4 years $75million
Reggie Jackson / 5 years $80 million
Gary Harris / 4 years $84 million
Meyers Leonard / 4 years $41 million
Terrence Ross / 3 years $33 million

...none of whom are worth the money they are paid.

And Dell just strong-armed him, using the hometown sway, into letting a 24 year old sign a 1 year $2.7 million contract. Unreal.

Work that market, Dell.
Long Live Dell.

Gary Harris is really good, I don't think 20 mil a year is that bad a contract for him.

Payton’s stock is pretty low right now. That helps with negotiations.

Gary Harris doesn't belong with that grouping of players.

The EP contract was a result of not much money floating around, and there being no market for him because he has been a subpar player at best.

Most of the players you listed signed their contracts during the summer of the big cap spike.

EP had never been in a winning culture, so the hope is that the environment here can help him develop unlike that in Orlando and Phx

Elfrid really really wanted to come home. I don't think the market for him outside of NOLA was huge, but he probably could've gotten marginally more than what we paid for him elsewhere. Good situation for him, he can come home and play in front of his family on a 1 year deal in a very point guard friendly system and hopefully cash in.

Do not really see the appeal with Honeycutt. Would he just be roster filler?

If he is a minimum deal, we can do worse. Worth a flier. Miller type addition.

Smart move. Payton is still young, there may not be a better opportunity in the league to boost his stock and still get a big pay day

It's what we in the biz refer to as the Art of the Dell
