Then he looked down the court and saw Alvin and knew he had it in the bag

Billy Donovan is a zillion times better than Alvin. That ranking that came out with him behind Alvin was laughable. I’m not sure if Alvin is better than Will Wade

Man I get it but Alvin is awful. Like, I would be mad if LSU hired him. He’s clueless. He’s not a good basketball mind. He’s a HC because he’s old and been around a long time.

You can say plenty of negative things about him, but this is just not true.

Just pointing out that the Thunder has a worse team but better coach. The Pelicans would be much better off making JJ a player/coach. Nothing to lose at this point

Can you tell me one advantage Alvin brings to the game for this team to succeed? This is exactly like watching a Johnny Jones team before Will Wade came in and actually coached

For one thing, he kept these guys competing when they could have easily shut it down when we had zero continuity after every single player on the roster other than Hayes had missed at least 5 games before Zion ever even stepped on the floor.

More importantly though, what in the world do you have to support the fact that JJ would be a quality NBA Coach? Ignoring the fact he says he has no interest in ever coaching in the NBA of course

The game has passed him. Maybe in 2004 he’d have been better

Win = all credit to players.

Loss = all fault on coaching.

I wonder if fans will ever evolve beyond this pleb mindset?

Never said he was better than Billy Donovan, I don’t believe he is. What I am saying is that the suggestion that the Pels would be “much better off” promoting JJ to player/coach mid-season is downright idiotic.

Also, I gave you an answer to your question, and you totally dodged mine. “Smh”...

I’m saying that they would be better off with anyone other than Alvin, even a player/coach. Going into a game knowing you have to score 135 points and hoping that the other team doesn’t score 136 with no defense being played while committing tons of turnovers will never yield consistent winning. Pulling Zion after scoring 8 straight or yanking Zo after a hot streak is absurd.

Alvin is a serial loser 1000 games under 500
