I think he's a free agent after next year.

I proposed a similar trade in previous thread my trade was:

Gordon
Anderson
Rivers

for

Monroe
Villanueva
Stuckey
Singler

I like it. Monroe and Davis would be a formidable front court for years to come. Tyreke and Holiday would be a solid back court. In my trade I would have Singler or Morrow starting at the 3(or Aminu). Stuckey would be decent coming off of the bench as the third guard.

ETA: Monroe is a free agent after this season, but he is from New Orleans and the trade would open enough cap space for a max level deal from the Pelicans.

Biggest problem with the NBA, moving contacts and getting expiring contracts tales precedence over acquiring talent.

It would definitely be a 1 step back to take two steps forwards deal. And you'd have to have a plan in mind for the cap space.

I think, if possible, I'd rather trade Anderson for Asik and then trade Gordon for expirings, if that's what the team wants to do with him.

Isn't there a Pistons fan that posts on here sometimes (LSUPiston?). I'd like to hear what he thinks about this deal from their side.

Yay

i love greg monroe though

stuckey moves to evans' role and plays backup point. he's underrated as a third guard

monroe would work well with davis as 1-2 punch on offense. they'd do great in the high-low, and monroe is a great passer...but monroe's D isn't that great

Ummm, how could you say NO to this trade.

Monroe is one of the top centers in the league, which many teams covet.

He and Davis would be unbelievable.

I am currently busy, but I will try to post about this sometime later today.

Benson doesn't want cap space or expiring deal. He wants to win now

Uh... clearing up cap space to sign free agents the following off-season allows you to basically 'win now.' They aren't winning jack shite this season.

As far as the trade goes... I think it's too much to give up for Monroe. Obviously I have no problem shipping Gordon off but Anderson's contract is so good.

Why on Earth would you prefer that? Monroe is miles better than Asik.

The thoughts on a Davis/Monrow front court is rather arousing

That's a lot of scoring to give up in order to get it. We would still have a huge hole at SF, and like it or not, Gordon usually puts up around 15-20 PPG. Not saying we shouldn't trade him, but giving up two 23-25 year olds that can score the ball consistently just hitting their prime for one center seems like a bad idea.

Isn't Monroe more of a PF than a C or am I mistaken?

PF but at 6'11" and 250 he can probably be a "center" whatever that means these days.

Yeah, I haven't watched him enough to have a real opinion on him but it doesn't seem like it'd be worth it if he was too similar to Davis.

Monroe can play in the high post because he has good passing skills and he can play with his back to the basket. I think he would be a good fit with Davis.

I don't feel that it is a good fit defensively for us. We don't need more offense down low. We need more defense. He isn't a long 6'11. He isn't elite rebounder. Isn't elite low post defender. He is better than what we have but he is more of a PF. I feel as if the pistons thought he was center they wouldn't have taken Drummond as well. I like him but I don't know if it is good fit. Need a rim protector

I knew this board always overvalued Anderson, but my Lord I can't believe some of the things I'm reading in this thread

Shut your whore mouth.

He may be overvalued by some, but I do want to see him play with this roster. It could make a difference. Of course, that assumes Monty can figure out what the frick to do with him.

plus evans will score more if given more minutes. the scoring is a wash

the spacing is not
