Untouchables: Zion, BI

Less likely to leave: Hart

Neutral: Jrue-26 mil

Rookie contract: Hayes-5 mil, NAW-3 mil

Expiring: Miller-7 mil, Melli-4 mil

Positive expiring: JJ-13 mil, Zo-11 mil

All of those assets not including Jrue or the untouchables = 40 million. We also have 4 1st rd picks and 8 2nd rd picks over the next 3 years.

What 2-3 players in the 10-30 mil range would you want to acquire with those assets to build for the future?

No CP3/ Wall/ Wiggins/ Beal

What

Hart isn't untouchable. If someone is offering you a star caliber player and want Hart, you do it.

I'd put him in the level below Zion and BI.

As great of a defender as Isaac is, his offensive limitations would be a huge problem. He is also rather redundant position wise with Zion and B.I.

Is that better? I just think he is important and valuable to us. Also think we would want to keep him unless like you said it is the difference between a star caliber player.

Yeah Hart is a guy you want on your roster but if he needs to be included in a package to get a guy you've been targeting, then Hart has to go.

Not sure why you chose those 3. This is one of the most likely types of scenarios if we are making moves and being buyers.

Probably, but I have more confidence that he could play a small ball 5 than Zion. He’s such a transformative defender that it might be worth the risk that he never grows on offense or has fit issues.

None of that matters though because even if he is available, he’s thought highly enough around the league that someone would offer more than what the Pels are willing to

Just being an idiot finding 3 guys that fit that criteria.

How about this?

We get Marcus Smart, Jarrett Allen, Temple, Gordon Hayward and a protected '21 or '22 Knicks 1st.

The Knicks get Lonzo and are sending out that future protected first for him (and Bullock). When I say protected, i mean top 4 protected only, not somethign that will convey to two 2nds.

The Celtics get Jrue and Bullock. (sending out Smart/Hayward/#26). They also save $17.5M in this. THey have salaries of $139M next year before the trade, assuming they don't keep Kanter's $5M. This would get them very very close to not being a tax team, which i think would be very very nice for them.

The Nets get JJ and Boston's #26. (sending out Allen and Temple)

But you didn't find 3 guys that fit the criteria... Tatum and Doncic will both be 30+ mil players with their contracts. So yeah you got the being an idiot half right.

I am starting to get the feeling that this NBA offseason is not going to be very active and we are all going to be kind of letdown from the lack of movement. I don't think we end up doing much of anything this offseason. With the uncertainty, they will probably just run it back and see if better health puts them closer. The trade deadline should be pretty crazy and I could see us being major players then, especially with all of the expiring deals we have.

In the end, we give Ingram the max. Go through the draft process and pick up a few guys. Then sign a FA Center like Plumlee or Len. That will probably be it..
