Not if you Max him and he's hampered. Then he's an albatross.

It's hard to argue with that article, but I still think they're underestimating what this team could be with both Boogie and Mirotic.

Also, Holliday on defense is the least of our problems - he played great; Durant is just going to get his sometimes.

the Davis question is most likely a no. and is the number one reason they bring Cousins back coming off this injury and a likely big $$ ask from him

Holiday, Mirotic, Moore, Miller, and to a lesser extent Rondo, gonna continue playing the best basketball of their lives?

if we go back to the final 30 games of the regular season (a week after Cousins was injured), the Pels were 20-10 and with +4 Net differential. those guys all played well, but i'm not sure (other than Rondo looking like he was trying more often) how much of that isn't sustainable.

that's the question for the Pels- if Davis is open to playing more at the 5, how much of the play over the last 1/3 of the season was fluky/hot streak v just a more natural fit that led to better play?

i do think the level of play in the Portland series is clearly unsustainable.

but, like you say, if they decide they want to/can move on from Cousins, they are back to a bunch of role players around Davis. One difference though- Holiday looks like more of a foundational piece than he did 2 years ago

We all wanted Portland for a reason, that was just a good match up for the Pels and a bad matchup for the Blazers. I don't think the playoffs showed anything other than what we saw in the regular season, teams 3-10 are all roughly on the same level.

AD Small Ball was good last year with 2 non shooters/scorers/rebounders like Dante/Solo getting a ton of minutes at the 3 and 4. I'm fully convinced they grab the 8 seed last year if they don't trade for Boogie and kept that Small Ball team in tact and don't trade away the few shooters they had in Hield/Galloway.

I'm still trying to figure out what the AD/DC that was starting to gel looks like vs. the AD/Niko team we saw post Boogie. One game is a horrible sample size but the ORtg/DRtg/NetRtg for that Houston game was 113.6/108.2/5.4.

The Post ASB Pels were 107.7/103/4.7, so similar overall NetRtg, just AD Small Ball combines a top 5ish offense with a top 5ish defense while AD/DC combines a below average but not horrible defense with an even better than Golden State and Houston offense.

I think they are in a position where either direction works as long as Cousins remains good enough to make them an elite offense.
