But for the most part I think the biggest impact this will have is AD will take longer to recover from his injury and the Tank is in full effect for the Pels.

Yeah him making it official bails us out for this season.

God I hope we luck into Zion.

How much money is this costing Davis?

I think the figure was somewhere between $30-$50 million when you take out the extra years. BUT if he had taken that extension he can't be traded for a year. so if he took the money he'd be here until the following summer at least and he'd be making enough money that it would complicate trading him.

Last year he only made $9 million in endorsements compared to $18 for Westbrook/Harden compared to $30-$50 for KD/Steph/LeBron. I'm sure his agents have told him he'll make most of the money up in endorsements if he gets to a winning situation in a major market.

Not being able to watch Davis in his prime years and at his absolute peak in a Pels uniform is depressing. Sometimes we forget how good Davis is at such an early age and don’t realize that he has not played his best game yet.

I think firing Dell is not something that is that important right now. Hell I have no problem keeping him. Firing Gentry should happen asap, or at the latest, at the end of the season.

Tell AD to stay his arse at home the rest of the season, we'll trade you in the summer unless something great comes along right now, and when I say great, I don't mean anything from the Lakers, where he obviously wants to go and why this crap came out right now. His Lebron agent knows all of this will get uncomfortable and that the Lakers can't compete with Boston so they figured they could force the trade now. Portland has more to offer than the Lakers. THe Sixers have more to offer than the Lakers. Hell i'd rather a deal from Chicago over the Lakers, and the Knicks have better offers as well.
I have zero interest in Lonzo Ball, or Brandon Ingram, and Kuzma isn't enough to go with their pick that won't even be top 10.

What needs to happen right now is trading away Randle and maybe Niko to get some assets back. and we need to continue to suck it up the rest of the season, which shouldn't be hard to do.

If there's a team out there I could see make a play for AD right now that no one is talking about it's Portland.

This....major reason he's ok with leaving and not getting that extra money in nola...

Ingram and Kuz is pretty solid in return from Lakers though to play with Jrue and Niko.. I'm not crazy at all about Lonzo but a lineup of..

PG - Ball
SG - Jrue
SF - Ingram
PF - Kuz
C - ???? Niko ( if small)

I mean that's exactly the guys Gentry would win with...run and gun style. Not sure what the draft will bring but say they hit on the draft...Pels could have a really nice young squad.

This is going to sound harsh and I don’t want you to be insulted because I like you as a poster and appreciate your contributions to this board.

But that is everything wrong with this loser fan base. NBA GMs and HCs are fires left and right at the drop of a hat.

Dell has had his chance. Even if you think he’s learned from his mistakes you simply cannot keep him. The optics are too bad.

It Is time to move on. I don’t mind a GM that has failed before and maybe has learned from his mistakes. It just can’t be Dell.

Before the end of the day Demps and Gentry need to be gone. Shut down any and all deals until summer when the Pelicans have a new GM installed as well as a new coach with a defined direction for the team and its roster.

Why would you fire your GM when you have players like Randle and possibly Niko that need to be moved. You cant just hold all moves until the offseason.

I think the idea is to replace the GM with a new GM. Not just forgo general management.

Comments from some national non Pels guys

Is there a reason the Pelicans shouldn't wait until the summer to allow for a Boston bid?

Question 2: Why would the Pelicans, even if he's healthy & even if they're waiting until the summer to trade him, have Davis play another game for them?

Who says no to Butler + Simmons for AD?

quote:

Adrian Wojnarowski @wojespn

On timing of telling Pelicans now, Rich Paul tells ESPN: "Anthony wanted to be honest and clear with his intentions and that's the reason for informing them of this decision now. That's in the best interests of both Anthony's and the organization's future."

I do find it funny that Boston has been tied to the AD trade rumors for years now that this is happening they can't trade for AD bc of Kyrie until this summer

I'm not going to be upset if we can Dell, I promise. I just don't think he's that terrible of a GM right now. I completely understand what you're saying, and you're right about others getting fired left and right. I more meant it there's other things that are more important right now, like trading away Randle.

I said it at the beginning of the season, if we fail this season, the blame lies on AD more than anyone, and I still stand by that. I think our coach is garbage, and as always, we've had shitty luck with injuries, but AD and Jrue have played far too much this year for us to be 6 games under .500 and 5 games back of the Brooklyn frickin Nets.
We'll be better without AD than we ever were with him. I bet we can win more games in a year or two than we ever did with AD, if we make the trade with Boston.

This organization seems to like to do things on a yearly basis.

- Ditka and Haslett were fired after the season
- Monty got fired at the end of the year
- Mora left during the season but that was because he resigned

That doesn't really make sense for this though. The new GM search should begin immediately so we are ready to hire one right after the season and have a plan in place.

I got that, but the deadline is in 2 weeks. A GM hire shouldnt be rushed and something tells me the organization hasnt looked to much into this.
