Rohan over at At The Hive compiled an interesting list of "every 20+ PER rookie [excluding a 31-year old Arvydas Sabonis :( ] of the last two decades."

Hate to be 'that guy,' but Andre Drummond's is 22.66. He's missing from the list.

Drummond is getting his high PER coming off the bench going against 2nd units. Davis and everyone else on the all time list started as rookies.

He's physically better than 95% percent of the guys he faces. Davis will never have Drummond's body, but as he gets stronger he'll go from really good rookie to potentially great. Monty's said it, and its clear when you watch him, but Davis gets pushed around a lot. That's not a problem for Drummond. Davis does has way more offensive game than Drummond,though.
Drummond also has no responsibilities on his team. He comes off the bench knowing he's only gonna play 20 minutes, and he plays with his hair on fire that entire time. Conserving energy and fouls are no concern for him. With that said, I like how they're using him as a rookie and its gonna be interesting to see how he develops.
His FT shooting is devastatingly bad, though. When the time comes for them to actually be ready to count on him to win games, he's gonna be useless down the stretch.

Drummond does have a man's body, but have you seen him play? He rarely uses it like he should. He is as raw as a player gets.

His post game is the most absurd thing in the NBA right now. He fades on funny looking jumpers.

But the guy went for 18/18 the other night with no post game to speak of. No face up jumper, nothing on the offensive end. He just bangs people around and bullies people in the paint.

His productivity is largely based on his insane athleticism. He has a bit of Blake Griffin in him, with the body of Dwight Howard. Very fun to watch. Already a premier shot blocker and rebounder. Never out of position, always 'at the right spot' on the floor.
But his offensive game is incredibly raw. No post game. No jump shot. Mostly alley-oops and putbacks at this time.

Absolutely not. Drummond is a physical freak with no basketball skill. Bigs that can't shoot rarely turn it around so his ceiling is probably a Tyson Chandler top defensive center type of player.
Davis may not be as freakish but he's still a physical freak but he also has actual basketball skills both offensive and defensive that can be fine tuned over time. His ceiling is a Duncan/Garnett top 5 player in the league type.

It's quite possible. Drummond could lead the league in blocks and rebounds as early as next season if he keeps progressing. Ben Wallace-esque.
Davis's offensive game is light years better, though. He's only going to get better.

Agreed. Davis, no doubt, can attain Duncan/Garnett status. He's gonna be a superstar.

Drummond's not even in the same conversation with those guys. Dwight Howard started in the NBA after coming straight out of high school, so his rookie year of 12/10 was Drummond's freshman year of college. In Dwight's 2nd year removed from High School he was averaging 16/12.
As a freshman at LSU Shaq only averaged 14/12, but in his 2nd year removed from high school he became dominant and averaged 27/15 and his rookie year in the league he averaged 23/14.
Drummond's 2nd year removed from high school he's not even starting and he's averaging 7/7. I'm not saying he's going to be a bad player, he may well end up being another Tyson Chandler, but if he was going to be a Super Star we'd know it already. The NBA has been following these guys since elementary school in many cases. They rarely miss on Super Stars.
