You should probably change the title. In no way does this tell us that these are the leading names.

ETA: Sorry, didn't click the link. They shouldn't have made that their title.

I thought the point of the rebrand was to change the name to something that represents new Orleans or louisiana. Neither of those do that. Just leave it at hornets.

They both have meaning to the city. I just don't like them. Not because of these to potential names, but I'm at the point where I think it'd just be safe to keep it at Hornets.

explain please. I could see a argument made for angels but it's not like that's an original name anyway. As for Spirits, I see no way how that holds any meeting to the city or state.

It's possible that even if Benson did reserve these names its to swap with the Voodoo.

The spirit of New Orleans. I hear that a lot. Like, "the people of New Orleans are so spirited." Yes, you could say that about any city, but when you ask anyone from outside of LA what they like most about NOLA, they usually say the people. Again, I don't like either of these names. But they do have a somewhat relationship with the city.

Never thought of this. But Benson doesn't own the Voodoo anymore. Is that still possible?

I really hope this is some sick joke. Any name would be better than these two name. I would rather that stupid arena name, the Soul. The one positive, all the names that I hated and thought sounded stupid, are suddenly sounding a lot better

I don't think it would cost anything to take the VooDoo name, considering Benson owns the team.

meh I feel like that is a bit of a reach. When I hear "spirit" I dont think of Louisiana or NOLA. I guess there's a bit of a connection but either way, like you said, the name sucks.

There is already an Angels. They play baseball in "the City of Angels," Los Angeles.

Spirit ... no good.

My short list: Bourbons; Revelers; Roustabouts; Baratarians; Half-Shells; Pirogues. I can live with Krewe or Pelicans.

No WNBA names: Spirit; Essence; Soul; Brass; Rebirth; etc.

The nickname needs to be a real flesh and blood thing, not a concept.

Doesn't sound at all WNBA'ish to me. Add Bounce to that list though and then set that list on fire.
