Alvin Gentry coached 36 games in Miami in 1995, before Pat Riley took over. Pat F'n Riley. AD23 draws comparisons to Alonzo Mourning, Kevin Garnett....

Pat Riley got 1 conference finals out of Zo in 7 years.
Flip Saunders got 1 conference finals out of KG in 10 years.

I'd say PF rooted team builds have failed despite even great coaching for a long time. The kid is gonna need a lot of help,

Let's call up Sir Charles. He can turn us around.

''What I think the Pelicans have done, you're paying guys to stay mediocre,'' Barkley said. ''I'm not paying guys to stay mediocre. I would rather regress and get a better draft pick or try to sign a free agent. I'm not just going to pay players to just barely make the playoffs.

I think gentry is one of the only coaches in the NBA to sweep the Spurs. Not saying he's good for the Pelicans, but has that on the resume

The Gentry supporters can't admit they were wrong. He is terrible as a head coach but I think he is a good assistant coach. Everyone likes to look at his time with the Suns when they went to the conference finals but they don't want to look at his overall record. Gentry is a below .500 coach he's proven that.

Well a shite ton of people here were clamoring for the Pels to hire George Karl and he's on the verge of being kicked out of Sac-Town on his arse, so it's looking like two of the top 3 candidates people hoped to replace Monty are failing something awful.
