I still say we can really use one more big body to take minutes and fouls. If it's a cheap rental, fine, as long as he can do it.

Agree completely.

At this moment the team seems to be happy with Anderson/Davis pairing. Had a lengthy discussion here on this a few months back, but if thats the case why do they need a big name 5? They just need big bodies to defend and bang (low hanging fruit, sons) for the scenarios mentioned above.

Maybe they pull the trigger for Asik, but we have seen no indication that a big name 5 is a priority so far.

They don't. They need Aaron Gray or his equivalent.

Demps even said as much when he talked about the ways in which Lopez had exceeded the role he was brought in for. The role they saw him filling was tailor made for Big Sloppy.

It's been painfully obvious from the beginning that a matchup center is what's needed. Lopez was a below average matchup center but a surprisingly effective post scorer. That's why so many people here liked him because he brought scoring to a team that had no scorers. But that's not what is needed at center.

As for Gray specifically, I'd love to have him back and do some Roberts/Withey trade for him at the deadline, but he may have left on bad terms. Monty gave him the Marcus Thornton treatment by giving MBenga minutes Gray should have had and Gray signed with Toronto very quickly, much quicker than you would expect someone signing with Toronto for a low dollar amount to sign.
