AD just hit his prime... a few years early.
AD has always been capable of this. he's had glimpses of this streak (this year) ever since his rookie season. he's always been a freak and a competitor. he's always had amazing handles and a smooth j, and great at defense. but there was a certain maturity and confidence lacking in his game. whether that was due to age, inexperience, injury, growing into his body or whatever. it's a strange thing where the national media just somehow kind of forgot about him when shiny new bigs (porzingis, giannis, KAT) came along. but now, suddenly, he's just there. he's arrived.

to me, the step back 3 pointer at the buzzer wasn't great because he hit it, it's because he had the brassy ones and actually took the shot... because he knew he could and would make it. i think the difference is now that he KNOWS he's the biggest and the baddest, and is starting to play like it. he knows he can take any game from any player. he's an alpha. even amongst other alphas, and no one wants a piece of him.

you see him walk around post brilliance and it's not celebration. it's that thing that jordan had. kobe had. lebron had. and now AD is getting. that swagger of "that's right. i'm the fricking man. of course i did that. and i'm gonna do it again."

it's been a pleasure watching him come of age. blessing in a boogie injury disguise. let's enjoy it for as long it lasts. he's a true superstar capable of dragging the pels to the playoffs from here on out. hopefully the front office gives him what he needs to compete for a title.

Agreement. It is a coming of age and taking on the Alpha mentality. He hasn't had that exposure with past teammates and he did this year. It is hard for players that young to form it that early. I am certainly glad he is coming into his own.

Confidence is key in many ventures of life, but with AD's talent in this basketball landscape it will lead him further than he has gone before.

I don’t think anyone ever expected him to be what he is offensively

Yeah I agree. Its the confidence, assertiveness, and swagger he's playing with thats different. The raw numbers aren't all that different than they've been in the past. The PER was actually higher in year 3 than it is now.

I think he just believes in his own greatness now. While he's been great for years now, I don't necessarily think he truly believed he was always the best player on every court. He does now. I give Rondo and Boogie staying in his ear, a lot of credit for that.

Him spending time with Westbrook was arguably the most important thing to occur this year.

I 100% feel like he knows he needs to buck up and play. That injury last night keeps him out in the past, he's learning he needs to toughen up and just take over. Play through the pain and issues.

Cousins getting hurt could potentially be a positive thing for his career at this point... in a very sick and weird sense.... As far as his portrayal by the media and non Pels fan. He is guy everyone in the NBA is talking about RIGHT NOW. I know Max Kellerman isnt loved on this site, but he even came out and said on ESPN that by this time next year, Anthony Davis will be the new “king” of the NBA meaning he will take Lebrons spot as the best player in the world.

In today’s day and age, I even believe it will be hard for a post player to be the face of the NBA, but it still put a giddy smile on my face to see that recognition that he finally deserves. We NEED a playoff series win, ATLEAST, this year for him to move to that next step.

I honestly think like you said the Boogie injury finally pulled this out of him. This that we’ve been waiting years for.

When Boogie comes back next year this is going to be AD leading and Boogie as his Robin

Boogie is going to have to settle for Alfred. Limitations, do things he's only good at and nothing more.

AD/Jrue as batman/robin is the new thing IMHO

Agree and disagree. It’s insane that he’s doing this at age 24. I wouldn’t have expected this until his expected prime a few years from now. Hope we are witnessing the next progression towards cementing himself as a true top 3 championship level player. If he jumps to that LeBron/Steph/Durant/Harden level, then we might have something special if Boogie comes back close to his pre-injury level.

think your 4 paragraph argument is something everyone here agrees with. please write an 8, no 20 paragraph topic next that says so little.
