Documentary on ZZ Top is on Netflix now. Definitely worth the watch if you like that band.

Watched it last night. Downright amazing. Loved the old footage and the touring with live animals.

Great documentary. Always been a fair weather ZZ Top fan but man those guys can rock!

Always feel like ZZ Top was a huge influence on Gov't Mule.

The MTV discovery was funny. "Man, they got this music special on the TV and it's been going on for 4 hours!"

Really enjoyed it. Had no idea that Frank Beard was into heroin as much as he was.

Thanks for bringing this up. Love ZZ and really want to see this. How is it that I can scroll through Netflix for 10 min looking for something to watch and something cool like this that I would love never pops up?

And, they will send me an email saying something I may like is now streaming and it is usually some stupid cop movie or something I have no interest in and my watch history should tell them I would have not interest in. (Sorry for Netflix rant)

Watched this yesterday afternoon and really enjoyed it.

I had never really thought of ZZ Top as being an originator/progenitor of Texas blues, but after watching the doc I can see how they would have influenced The Fabulous Thunderbirds and in turn SRV.

Finally watched it. It was really good. It is still just amazing how different Billy Gibbons looked back in the day.
The same guys that did the Rush doc did this one and I could see a lot of similarities with how they produced them. Good stuff.

My only complaint was it just kind of cut off after the Eliminator period. I know they didn't really have huge commercial success after that, but they have become icons and their legend just continued to grow and I would have liked to have seen them touch on that just a little to the present.

Thanks for posting this. Awesome documentary and makes me wish I would have seen them live already. Anybody see them lately? From the doc, they still seem to have “it.” Gibbons also sounded great on the desert sessions album.

Saw them live at Hirsch Coliseum in 1986. The songs played live were a carbon copy of the album versions although I was not a fan of the more techno album that came out after Eliminator
