This thread is so lonesome it could cry. No Hank Williams fans out there?

It's like Hank Jr. and Kris Kristofferson say, "If you don't like Hank Williams..."

I'm just going to go ahead and use this thread for a soapbox moment.

I get so tired of hearing Skynyrd and "Old Hank" being referenced in country songs. I woud bet money that if I were to ask your avg pick up truck driving country music fan he couldn't name five Old Hank songs.

Having said that. I would have the same top 5 as most of you all. My favorite is Cold Cold Heart.

Hank Jr.

Dixie on my Mind
If Heaven Ain't a lot Like Dixie
A Country Boy Can Survive
Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound
Country State of Mind

The reason people started doing this is because they deserved to be mentioned.
The reason people still do this is that they think it's a recipe to make people like their song.
Sadly I think this works on many people.

After my own thread inspired me, I listened to my ancient copy of Hank Williams 24 Greatest Hits and my Hank Jr. mix CD on my car trip last night. I must now, of course, add to my list one more from each:

Old - Settin' The Woods On Fire

(as has been stated, there are NO bad Hank songs)

Jr.- Born To Boogie

(reminds me of me)
