Yeah, really no reason to be a condescending prick. I like both versions of the band. Just because music is " pop" or on the radio doesn't mean it sucks. The wrote some great,catchy songs. It is what it is.
And radio did play good music in the 70s and 80s. Sorry you didn't like it.

There is no difference between 77 and 82 pop bands. There wasn't a committee who said....it's 1980, change your sound. It was all Kassey Kasem top 40 crap back then. It's a misplaced romantic notion that radio was playing "cool" stuff back then. There usually was an AOR Station in any given town that played some deep cut stuff that wasn't the usual heavy rotation cuts other stations played. But those stations were usually not listened to by many people. And they certainly weren't playing FWM.
Sorry man, I just get annoyed by the adoration given to bands that were considered avg pop bands by me and my friends growing up.

Sorry you guys didn't like them, but just because they were mainstream doesn't make them bad. And their sound isn't 80s. Not enough electronics, synths and big guitars. I would argue the early 80s bands sounded more like late 70s bands. I still disagree about radio, but I like some pop music. We'll just have to agree to disagree

I love Stevie Nicks but always wonder how the band would have progressed if she was never in the band. No Stevie would have meant no Lindsey, so they would have basically disappeared. Buckingham is a true genius.

That's a really hard working hypo. I mean, it's not as if you're removing Bradley Nowell from Sublime or anything, but you're in the same ballpark. Nicks/Buckingham were key players.
ETA: and they wouldn't have disappeared; jsut been more good than great.
