Saw it before, but thanks...good to know someone else appreciated good remakes. Doesn't the violin add some beauty to an already great song?

Yes. And I like how the interpretation can be different from the Vietnam era man to the eyes of an old man wanting to go home to be eventually buried in his homeland.

For What It's Worth and Fortunate Son have to be the two most recognized 'nam songs.

I would also add:

Leaving on a Jet Plane (even though it wasn't really written to be about the war, the sentiment was certainly felt by those leaving to go over there)

and Ohio by CSN&Y about the Kent State shootings

How's about "Last Train To Clarksville" by the Monkees, the first protest song to reach Billboard #1, in 1966.

An earlier protest song was "Universal Soldier" by Glen Campbell. Not as popular, but a great lyric.

Buffy St. Marie wrote Universal Soldier and recorded it first. Donovan covered it in addition to Glen Campbell.
