Here's one for those of you who like your country more on the "alt" side. Cory Branan is a Nashville singer-songwriter who's been on the scene for some years now, but is attracting a fair amount of critical attention with his latest album, Mutt--a work that calls out the native Southerner's gift for storytelling as well as his uncategorizable knack for blending various musical styles (including country, of course--as well as blues, pop, and rock).

How is mutt? I still haven't gotten around to listening to it. Having Survivor Blues on it is definitely a plus though.

let me know what you think. I listened to it a few times through.. its weird hearing the songs with production, because i've heard them only acoustic for like 5 years
found this from a few years ago with him and ben doing an acoustic show in batesville arkansas:
dude is fricking wild live

I have only seen youtube videos
with cory, I don't think the varsity books too many acoustic acts
he's supposed to be teaming up with a touring band later this year though. the thrift store cowboys might be backing him up, or american aquarium.
