Yes the Move were heavily influenced by the Who ("Who?" "Yes" "Yes?" "Yes" "Who?" "Yes!")

When Lynne took over the band he modified the sound to make it top-40 friendly with simple disco-style beats and 70s synth/string arrangements. And of course Wood's lyrical eccentricities disappeared completely.

Jeff Lynne is one of the baddest mother frickers on the planet.

Telephone Line is my jam. I can play that on loop.

Lennon loved ELO said he envisioned the Beatles moving to that sound if they would have stayed together.
