With the emergence of J. Cole and Kendrick, I think it has a bright future. I would even venture to throw Hopsin in there if he gets the publicity he deserves. Nas' reemergence won't hurt either. He snapped on "Hip-Hop" from the DJ Khaled album.

That's kinda my point. Since about 2001, it has been pure fricking trash. There is no soul in rap anymore. Bunch "get rich quick" douchebags. At least from what is played on popular radio.

It used to be a powerful cultural medium.

The ill mind of hopsin is the exact opposite of the kind of music going on today (money cars clothes drugs). He basically rags on all those things in that track. I haven't listened to too much more of Hopsin as I'm trying to get all his tracks and listen to them in order from oldest to newest.
Now, you can't go wrong with Cole at all. Go back to the mixtapes "The Warm Up", "The Come Up", "Friday Night Lights", and then his Debut Album, "Cole World: Sideline Story"
With Kendrick, Section 80 is probably the place to start. He's got a track on the Game's last album called "The City" in which he snaps. Then he has another mixtape called "Overly Dedicated" which is a little older. His most recent songs have been "The Recipe" ft. Dr. Dre, "Swimming Pools", and then he just released a track called "Westside" a day or 2 ago.

Hopsin is no where near the level of J.Cole and K.Dot. I would put Big K.R.I.T up there with them over Hopsin. Hell, Earl Sweatshirt might have the brightest future of any rapper around right now.

K.R.I.T. is played out beyond belief. Every one of his songs sounds the same.
I'm loving the Hopsin reference SohCahToa, I've been getting my friends on him recently. Going see him next month here in Fort Worth

Like I said, I haven't listened to a whole lot of his stuff, but from what I've heard from him he is definitely well on his way to being in the conversation with him if he's not already.

Have you listened to Rich Dad, Poor Dad or maybe Boobie Miles?
And I like Hopsin alot and think he is one of the more original rappers around but he isn't near the level of Cole or Kendrick.
