It’ll be ironically cool again in 3 years and see a mainstream nostalgia-driven revival inside of 5 years.

Do you not get that this music video is literally a parody of several other popular music videos of the time? It’s dumb on purpose, making fun of N’Sync, 98 Degrees, and the Backstreet Boys. Those Boy Bands made cringy videos trying to be cool, so Blink was making fun of them.

You’re like the person who watches spaceballs and thinks it’s stupid because the bad guy has such a big helmet.

It's basically a shot for shot copy of boy band videos. Blink 182 was always snarky like that.

This is like posting an Onion/Babylon Bee article on Facebook and being outraged.

I'm with you 100% OP. Blink 182 and their fans deserves way more hate than they get. They were the face of the shittiest genre in the history of music POP Punk, which is a contradiction in and of itself.

The lead singer sounds like a wining pre-pubescent 12 year old, and the music is terrible.

I'll suffer through Nickelback over Blink 182 any day of the week.

Blink 182 was essentially a satirical band and it inspired what became, essentially, a satirical genre of whiny teenagers telling their parents and the “cool kids” and their music to f$&k off. The joke was funny until it got old and the genre came and went really quickly. It was both a f$&k you to self-serious grunge, a tongue in cheek homage to self-serious (but silly) hair metal, a satire of the over-the-top contrarian punk movement, and a f$&k you to boy bands.

You’re akin to insulting Weird Al for being so tacky because he made a song called tacky as a joke that you thought was serious.

Weird Al is straight up parody genre. Its even more sad Blink made fun of bands, if this is the case, then claim to be a great group. You just told me they are parody, so I'll take them even less serious of a good music group.

You’re not supposed to take them or any pop punk bands seriously. They don’t take themselves seriously. The whole genre was the uncool kids, skateboarders, and burnouts making fun of people who take themselves too seriously.

If you weren’t a teenager when you first heard the music, it’s probably not going to speak to you, nor is it meant to.

I'm 32 and remember buying their first CD at Kmart because they were "cool". It was cringe then and cringe now.

Wonder how many of you hate on goths but have that argument

Mark Hoppus used to get roasted on the bass player forums back in the day. People straight up hated him.

Travis Barker (drummer) was the only really talented instrumentalist in the group, and he nearly died in a plane crash.

Pop punk was punk with a more melodic edge and replacing the more serious themes of traditional punk with younger themes like heartbreak and jokes.

It kept the basic chord structures and speed of punk and adapted it. It's not much different from South Park making fun of the goth kids.

I'll go to bat for Green Day and Blink 182 in that genre. All you need to do is listen to Sum 41 after either and you'll see GD or Blink do it better.
