I really think it boils down to Chad Kroeger. (or however the frick you spell his last name).
The guy looks like he just tries way too hard to be "cool". He's really hard to like.
If they had a more likeable lead singer it might be a different story.
PS - when you write a song like "rockstar" you deserve all the shite you get criticized for.

If you like them then by all means, knock yourself out. Personally, I can't stand them. I don't go out of my way to hate on them, I simply ignore them. The represent chitty, unoriginal, bland "rock". But, I mostly hate the guys voice. My brother loves that band and that's great but he also doesn't appreciate any other genre of music, so there ya go.
