Why didn’t John Christ land in a band after leaving Danzig?

Exceptional guitar player and metal enthusiast, seems like another well known band would have picked him up when he became available, but other than some solo-ish stuff he hasn’t done much.
Admittedly he was injured in 2003 (he has since recovered), but that was 8 years after leaving Danzig.
Disillusioned with the industry? Bad reputation?

I heard he kept losing gigs to his cousin, Jésüs
