Cobain's song writing / lyrics is what made him and Nirvana so great.

Grohls lyrics and vocals with the foo fighters isnt in the same league as Cobain and Nirvana.

Cobain had a unique voice that has since been imitated over and over ad nauseum....Grohl sounds like th guy from Nickelback and a thousand other bands.

... and not particularly well. Cobain had an amazing, uinque voice. Where Did You Sleep? is a tour de force, and shows just how far he was willing to push his voice. The guy just had no inhibition. It's possible he would've been unable to sing anymore in 5-10 years. He abused the hell out of himself.
