Janis Joplin. Her voice is what I imagine a cat being tortured sounds like.
Tanya Tucker. She's simply awful.

Agree with her being on the list, but for me not for your reasoning. People act like she was such hot shite and she really had a hard time carrying a tune most of the time live.

You obviously don't understand the whole concept of "the Blues". It's all about passion and emotion. Like baring your soul to the world. If you had ever seen any of these artists live, you might have a better perspective. But then again, music is subjective and everyone likes what they like. My generation understood Janis, much of yours doesn't.

Most of these are terrific songwriters or have interesting voices, just don't hire them to sing the National Anthem. By the way I love their music. Great vocalist isn't one of my criteria.
Gregg Allman?......you can't be serious

Surprised David Lee Roth has not been mentioned yet.

Did Tom Waits ever really make it big? He's always had a more cultish following IMO.

You do realize that his voice is what vocalist today and in the future strive for and wish they had his range, right?

Everyone of these people that are being listed never needed the use of auto-tune or the need to lip sync.
They are could actually sing live and didn't try to sound like anyone else except for themselves. (See any American Idol or the Voice reruns for examples).

Are you sure you know who she is?
I was around during her heyday, and hated Delta Dawn. However, I bet T.T. was/is a hoot to party with.
