I always aged just behind it.

I didn’t find the Cult/Cure/Smiths until senior year and early college. By then 120 minutes and Headbangers Ball were lost. Seattle Music took over. What was Metal? What was Grunge? What was alternative?

Was ripe for some awkward interviews. Ricki Rachman (sp?) interviewing any new act other than Soundgarden or AIC.

Made alternative music mainstream and made 120 Minutes for e themselves to find stranger and stranger things. If they played XTC “Dear God” I stopped. Otherwise not. Otherwise they played REM. MTV and music in general had zero idea how to package music.

they are on Youtube Music, Spotify etc.
Yeah, I can find them, I guess I wasn't clear. They don't randomly come up on my feed and I have never seen them on XMU, First Wave, Underground Garage etc.

I played two last week, so maybe Youtube Music will throw one in from time to time.

you can read Billboard magazines from the early 90s & late 80s.. and the modern rock charts had some stuff that either 95% of people have never heard about, was hardly what I'd consider alt rock, or just vaguely remembered like a song such as "3 Strange Days" by School of Fish (good song) which was a top 10 modern rock song when Pearl Jam's Ten , Nirvana's Nevermind and Chili Peppers' Blood Sugar Sex Magik all came out

Smells Like Teen Spirit almost changed the entire industry over night.. they didn't break the mold, but definitely opened up a huge flood gate

I know this is true for history and most everyone but for me I will always remember the song below as being the song that started it all. Plus I was never a huge Nirvana fan

Smells Like Teen Spirit is actually one of the worst songs on Nevermind in my opinion, but it literally changed everything overnight.. watch part of their show from Trees in Dallas when the song had broke out but Nirvana was touring sub 1000 clubs (although they probably fit close to 1000 in a 600 person room).. it's pure chaos and if you watch it, you know that it wasn't going to be a fad and there was no going back

My parents wouldn't pay for cable so I'd beg my friend to record any Skinny Puppy video that might come on by chance.

New Model Army
To this day, the best show I ever saw. It was about August 6th 1987 at Jimmy's in New Orleans. Will never forget how few people were there and how close up we were and how good that show was. My friend and I weren't old enough to drive so we called his uncle to pick us up on Carrollton at about 1 AM.

I disagree. My opinion is that it’s just been overplayed to the point of creating your opinion.

I still think it's a great song.. every song on that album is very good to excellent.. Drain You, Breed, Lithium, Something in the Way, In Bloom, Territorial Pissing would be ranked above it, probably one or two others.. I do prefer Teen Spirit to Comes as You Are though
