Not as famous as some already mentioned, but Chris Scruggs. Dude is a walking and talking encyclopedia of country music—even more so than Marty Stuart if that’s possible. He can play any stringed instrument. He comes across as a great guy as well.

I really don't know anything about how an orchestra or large band's music is composed but I would love to have sat in when Duke Ellington was composing Caravan.

Just read his bio, yeah he's Earl's Grandson, Randy's nephew, and his Mom is Gail Davies. He was pretty much born into the business.
He never had to read anything about it in a book.
