I always said boxer, but the most recent time I compared it to High Violet, I think I sided with HV.

Alligator, mostly because it's the album that introduced me to them. It was so different at the time....really stuck with me. Alligator, Boxer, HV, Trouble were a hell of a string of albums.

For the longest time it was Alligator, probably because that was also my entry point. Now, it’s High Violet.

I think Alligator-Boxer is one of the all-time best back to back album stretches by any band ever. This thread has me revisiting both albums for the first time in awhile and for that I’m grateful.

The original version of it (called Anthem I think) is totally different. Ends on a much happier note

Wow, I had never heard that. That ending was a jam. Definitely glad they settled on the version they did, but that was interesting. Very different from the final version.
