Alive and well in the hill country, the kids there are really good. Doesn't hurt that half of them are named Kimbrough or Burnside, but there are still kids growing up playing actual instruments. Just not as much demand for it.

It may shock some people, but a significant number of blacks do not enjoy the image of blacks that the rap culture promotes.

Well considering that of the approx 310 mil people in the U.S., 72.4% are white....Yea I would think so. It only makes sense that when the ratio is 4-1 white to black, there will be more white kids that like Rap nationwide then black kids. Way to pull a statistic and use it in the wrong context.

I wouldnt say "significant". I cant think of one black person that I know that listens to rock music instead of rap/r&b.

Blacks are about 13% of the population. Do you think rap would anywhere near as culturally prevalent as it is if they were the majority of its audience?
You have country acts trying to incorporate it into their sound. Why are they doing this? Because they want that rap audience.
Rap, not rock, is the sound of the younger generation.

That's because "Modern Country" IS pop music. They will come and go with the trend just like any pop music. That doesnt change the fact the rap music is associated with the black culture and rock music is associated with the white culture which was my original thesis response to the OP.

Please, spare me the rock history lesson. Of course it was derived from blues. We arent talking about the roots, we're talking about it's race association in music TODAY. When I say rock music, an image of what race of people immediately pops into your head? When I say rap music, an image of what race of people immediately pops into your head? Youre arguing for the sake of arguing.
