What is the most you would pay/have paid for an album?

Been buying vinyl I've been wanting from the 1990s, got me wondering..
Where would or do you set your limit?

I think the most I’ve paid for 1 album was $100 for Art Blakey’s Moanin. I’ve paid a few hundred for boxsets, but I believe 100 is the most for any one album. I don’t like paying that much as a matter of principle though.
Usually the most expensive records I buy are around the $55 mark new. Occasionally I’ll soend more than that for something I really want.

Depends on how badly I want it. I have some original MoFi, CBS Half speed Masters, Blue Note, and SuperDisc LPs that I paid $150-$200 apiece for.
I bought an original Widespread Panic “Space Wrangler” LP on Landslide Records (original release-1988) for $400...only 1500 were pressed, and it wasn’t rereleased on record until 2014.

I think most I ever paid was for the Smashing Pumpkins Aeropla e Flies High box set when I was in jr high

I just spent $680 on one, not the smashing pumpkins. An original pressing, autographed copy in near mint condition.
Im kinda wanting to see if that kind of behavior is commonly normal or not.

Some Ryan Adams “limited” shite. Great album but could only find the limited version which drove up the price. Believe it was “Love is Hell.” The pressing is supposed to be very good and each LP is in its own case and stuff.

I sold a copy of Pearl Jam "Benaroya Hall" vinyl, sealed, for $1300. There were 2000 printed and only available through the Ten Club.
I would never spend anywhere close to that on a record. I don't even think I've ever gone over $100 (unless it's a vinyl box set).

I really regret opening my Benaroya box, as it turned out to be such a dull thing to own. It was a boring show, and I still have no idea why PJ collectors are so gaga over that particular show/release.
Think I sold mine in 2009 for $450 opened, and how I wish I'd have hung on to it!

Because PJ fans are nuts
Dude, I had like 6-7 old PJ shirts and they sold for like $150. When I say old, I mean like yellow pit stains on some of them old.
I sold my entire PJ vinyl collection when I sold the Benny. I don't remember all of the amounts but I did very well selling them. I had 12" singles of "Nothing as it Seems" and "Light Years"...made like $200 on just those two..for a few damn songs.
What was funny was the studio album reissues started coming out not long after selling all my shite.

and this is another reason why i try not to spend too much on a record, assuming the reason for its high price is the low number available. chances are it will get reissued at some point. a good example of this is duster's stratosphere. i almost purchased an expensive copy because it was only pressed once in '98, ultimately i decided not to, and a few months later a box set was announced for like a 1/3 of the price of that one record.

Well, that Light Years 12" was a very rare thing, and I don't think it sold well either.
I actually have held onto all of the original LP's, because I bought them at Tower back in the day (it's just sentimental for me), and the reissues apparently do sound like garbage, compressed to high heaven, etc.
If you just want to own something on vinyl, though, yeah, reissues are perfect!

I have a unopened vinyl original copy of Meddle that I paid A LOT for that I will not part with

I don't think I've ever paid more than 30 bucks for a record. I paid either 25 or 30 a piece for original pressings of Big Star's first two (#1 Record and Radio City). I think I paid 25 for my copy of Appetite For Destruction with the "robot rape" cover art. I paid 40 dollars for a rare hair metal CD a long time ago. That's about as high as it goes for me.
