Gave it a listen. Here's your list to research:

Seymour Duncan
* Antiquity series
* '59 for neck and '59 for bridge (they are different wind pickups);
* '59 neck paired with '59/Custom Hybrid bridge position
* Slash Signature Series Alnico II Pro set (I currently have the Slash set in my Les Paul)

Rio Grande Genuine Texas/Barbecue pair

Whoever/whatever you look at as far as manufacturers, I'd recommend you look for humbuckers built around Alnico 2 magnets in about the 7-9K output range. Alnico 5s are also options for the bridge position, a tad hotter, more harmonically alive, more aggressive.

I've been considering getting a Slash for at least the bridge pickup.

I've been considering getting a Slash for at least the bridge pickup.

Spend a little extra and get the matched pair. They are both very good for their respective positions, and the "both on" position has a nice jangle that you can tell was intentional by design.

Here's my old 1976 "Standard Deluxe" (LP Deluxe that was custom-ordered with factory-cut humbuckers) and its Slash set in black (bobbins).

Here's a zebra set (one creme coil, one black coil) I put in a client's PRS Custom 24. Notice that the Slash set's zebras are a little different than most. Usually you see creme bobbin screw coils (zebra) or creme bobbin slug coils (reverse zebra). With the Slash set, the neck pickup is a zebra and the bridge pickup is a reverse zebra.

I know ESP/LTD isn't really underrated but for the price my LTD EC-1000 plays better than Les Pauls costing 3x as much and it's easier to handle with better looks (totally subjective obviously just my opinion) for what I'm trying to do.

Yep, coming to post this.

I have an EC401VF and love it for all the same reasons.

That's what my Agile has in it. Nice to know that I'll never need to upgrade.

I can speak from a bassists perspective.

Peavey. I have a heavy arse maple T-40 bass. Amazing instrument. It weighs like 12 pounds and is a beast.

Washburn. Their T-24 bass is all maple and mahogany. It's a great instrument for the price. I mean a neck-through maple/mahogany bass should be near 1000. To get it for 500 is a steal.

Carvin. They used to make some unbelievable instruments.

Eastwood. They are making some solid instruments on a budget. They are doing the retro thing better than anyone. I dig their takes on the old Mosrite and Teisco stuff.

Squier. The Vintage Modified Jazz and Jaguar basses are near studio quality with a couple of adjustments. Those are damn fine instruments.

Supro-They were always known for their amps but their new line of guitars is awesome. The pickups on these are crazy good.

Any chance you could upload a video of what it sounds like? What kind of amp do you play on?

I play on one of these:

Though I've considered switching to using my buddy's amp which is one of these:

Why do hate the posters on the MB?

I am terrible. I in no way could give you a proper representation of my PUs. I use a Fender Mustang 3 amp. Best I can tell you is that the guitar feels better than any epiphone I've picked up or any actual Gibson LP that was a basicLP. I'm not trying to say this thing is better than some reissue Les Paul or anything. It's fret ends where you know the guitar is Asian. They won't cut, but they aren't smooth. But an ebony board, Grover tuners, and a flamed maple cap. And I paid $329? To get all of that on a real Gibson I assume you add a zero. Add to that the upgrade that was made with the pick ups.

The pickups just sound fuller and beefier to my ear than others I've messed with. Especially just trying bluesy rock stuff. Can't speak to how they'd sound distorted and crunchy for metal etc. doesn't sound like that's what you're looking for anyway.

Getting any guitar with ebony fretboard is a great buy. I love ebony fretboards. I'm looking to find a big old block of ebony so I can fashion ebony nuts on all my basses, except for my Rickenbacker. And my Peavey.

I have a LaPatrie Collection Classical Guitar I purchased 18 yrs ago, very well made, beautiful sound, Cedar top over 800 yrs old, EQ system and holds tuning $529 with case 18 yrs ago.

They cost a little more now. The EQ system is nicer, has its own tuner and the cases are an upgrade from what I got.
