What is classic rock?

I was driving home last night when I heard Pearl Jam's Alive played on a classic rock station sandwiched between Gimme Three Steps and Fat Bottom Girls.
So what is classic rock to you? Is it a certain sound? A certain era?

Classic rock = stuff I like

"classic rock" is simply a marketing term for "old shite"
when the baby boomers die off -- and obviously, can no longer be marketed to -- the classic rock era will be moved up

Most classic rock stations suck anyway. If I hear Sweet Home Alabama, Bohemian Rhapsody, or Stairway To Heaven one more time I might write a letter suggesting the station broaden their playlist.

That's some serious bold action you're pondering there.

If you like Van Halen and 80's hairbands. 95.7's variety is simply terrible.

Yes, this. Is it possible that Grand Funk Railroad recorded any other songs besides We're an American Band ?

Bayou 95.7 sucks
Play entirely too much Aerosmith and GNR. I'd be willing to bet that every hour of music has at least one song from either of those bands. And I like them both, but frick, play other stuff.
Also, stop playing wonderful tonight, dream weaver, and love hurts. That's not fricking rock and roll.

This. Mainly '70's, possibly late '60's and early '80's.
