I concur. I'm one of those aging Baby Boomers and I grew up listening to what is now "classic rock." I absolutely HATE Eagle 98.1. I've been listening to Lefty Radio 96.9. They play the type of stuff KLSU USED to play.

Anything stylistically consistent with rock n roll prior to the onset of Grunge and after Rocket 88.

There has never been a classic rock station in the history of radio to sport a track library exceeding 30 tunes.

When I'm making a classic rock playlist, I tend to include some Nirvana (Smells Like Teen Spirit) and some Pearl Jam (Alive), but generally try to include as little grunge as possible. I try to exclude the 50s du-wop stuff but I include early mo-town (Wilson Picket). However, once you get to bands like The Jackson 5, Tower of Power, and Earth Wind and Fire, I stop including them in rock and that gets shelved as Motown/funk. I include (begrudgingly) the 80s hair bands though there are some I like (GNR, Iron Maiden, etc) but the heart of classic rock is always late 60s through 1979, when giants roamed the earth (The Who, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Van Morrison, Chicago, Rush, etc)

the late 50s to early 60s stuff that had been called OLDIES is evolving to ancient now
the early classic rock (mi60s to early 70s) is now becoming the new oldies to me
therefore classic rock will increasingly move into the 80s and onward
PBS fundraiser shows kinda reflect this. Now they are showing The Zombies, The Animals, etc increasingly and less of the oldies
