His work as a producer is underrated, if anything.

as a rapper, he's trash. but he's easily the best rap producer over the last 15 years or so.

I liked Daytona more too. Ye isn't bad, but it isn't especially compelling or inspired either.

Kanye won't take center stage with lyrics. He was more fun in the old days, but his newer lyrics are pretty generic.

The production is fine, but doesn't grab me. Daytona was better because Pusha can elevate things in a way Kanye can't.

Just started my first play through

This first song is complete trash and he should feel ashamed.

edit: finished now.... kept waiting on one of the tracks to take off and hit... never did...

I listened to a interview with pusha and he was saying kanye cranked out 35 tracks between himself, push, and I guess 3 other GOOD artists. 7 a piece

It'll at least be interesting to see how the albums all measure up against each other production wise

This was me. I don't dislike the songs, but Kanye can make stuff that grabs you. This all felt like decent album filler. It's not bad, but where's something that grabs you.

After hearing Daytona I'm super excited for the Nas album. I can see Kanye staying more with a traditional hip hop sound like he did with Pusha T.

Not a fan. The Pusha album was fire (though, once again, ASAP Rocky's new one was more enjoyable for me). I go back and listen to a lot of old Kanye, and it's depressing how far off he's fallen lyrically (not that he was ever Talib Kweli or anything). Still capable of great production, but this album didn't do it for me at all.

I can't decide if it's worse than TLOP or just equally bad.

That said, Kanye was not fricking around on Daytona...really set my expectations high for 'Ye.

Ima be honest. since you said this the other day ive gone through it again a few times. I had checked it out but kinda shelved it as Long Last pt 2. which was a little too trippy and not that great to me. But that was a mistake because this new joint is fire

So thanks for that

Glad you enjoyed it. The album as a whole isn't amazing, but it definitely has some badass songs on it that I've enjoyed. I'm with you on Rocky kind of losing me after first two albums, and I love that whole weird ambient Clams Casino vibe. Just got too downtempo and psyched out.

I still hold up "1Train" as one of my favorite posse cuts of all time, though.

Graduation and Late Registration could both make this list for me. Graduation is tighter and stronger.

Late Registration. Easily. I probably listened to Graduation more than MBDTF though.

He says I love going in raw not thinking about the outcome, if you think about it none of us would be here without cum.

Love it. Violent Crimes is easily one of my favorite songs. Ghost Towns is good too. He's got a new album coming out with Kid Cudi this Friday. I'm pretty jacked up about it.
