What became of T-Pain and Akon?

Not that long ago they were being played on nearly every radio station. Both were not only in hip hop genre, but had numerous crossover hits to top 40 radio.

T-Pain "claims" he still gets a royalty check of around $100K every month for all the appearances.
Akon never needed or wanted money, he was born into royalty in Africa, decided to move to Florida after seeing how easy it was, more into the fame aspect I think than anything.

Yeah I don't think that is entirely true. He was raised some in Senegal from what I found, but no mention of Royalty. And he was born in St Louis.
