Solid song. Heard it a little while ago then forgot the guys name.
QOTSA - Autopilot
This guy's riff is bad arse. Think Josh Homme is playing drums on this song also with Nick Oliveri lead vocals and guitar.

Mew - Apocalypso
A reminder of why I fell in love with Mew. Jonas vocals are gorgeous, but the main riff in this song is just something that you only hear from Bo Madsen. So much syncopation.

Van Dyke Parks - Discover America
I bought this one on a whim - and holy crap - what a weird and great album. 1971 - Van Dyke Parks was associated with Little Feat, Brian Wilson, Frank Zappa, Rye Cooder.... So that was good enough for me. And he loved Trinidad steel drums apparently. This is an extremely quirky and odd and catchy album. And I happen to dig steel drums too.
No need to spend money - here it is. If you need to start anywhere - FDR in Trinidad, Lowell George is playing slide on this one; it starts at 13:30. If that doesn't work for you then bail.

I'm totally just posting to myself in here, but two great current bands covering two classic songs:
the war on drugs- tangled up in blue
built to spill- how soon is now?

Saw Eric Johanson post about buying a new black leather jacket, so I'm listening to Cire.
