Jason Isbell knocked it out of the park with this little festival he put on. I was a bit skeptical going in because they were really slow getting pertinent info out on logistical stuff(parking, site map, etc.) but it was absolutely the best experience I've had at a festival its size. Moderate beer and food prices, plenty of porto-potties, extremely friendly and helpful staff, lots of shade to escape the heat, etc. And seeing Mavis Staples has had me grinning ear to ear since Saturday. What a treat to see her perform. And I never really liked Sheryl Crow in the 90's, but her set was fun as well. Everyone on stage was having an absolute blast. My kids couldn't stop talking about it yesterday and what a great time they had. It's a must-do if he puts it on again next year.

Really liked what I heard from Caleb Elliot as well as The Prescriptions on the side stage.

I was!!!

Being from Florence, I thought it was great. I've met Jason a few times in the past and he always hated there wasnt any good venue in Florence for some big acts. So I guess he decided to make one, lol.

Just missed the cool october festival I think he had in mind by a few days. Lol

From what the mayor said the city was very happy with it as well. Jason said it was the most fun he had every had on stage. Pretty sure they'll be another next year. Heard that hotels in downtown are already booking up for next year.

The only thing they screwed the pooch on was food vendors. Most of the vendors were out of foot by the time Sheryl Crow was over. So the ones that did have food had extremely long lines (like hour wait looking lines). But a funnel cake held us over til the end of the show.

Didn't realize that about the food. We ate a big lunch to avoid having to rely on food there, but I forgot about my 16 year old son's appetite. He ate an entire Little Ceaser's pizza during Sheryl Crow's set.

Weather was my only complaint. I tried to stand close to the stage for Amanda's set, but quickly retreated to that area stage left by the soundboard in the shade. Once the sun went down though it was fine. The weather was totally out of their control anyway.

Now that the word is out at how great it was, next year's will be a huge clusterfrick.

We got there at gates open to reserve some spaces in the seating area in the shade by the river for my mom and her friends.

So by time Sheryl had played I was really hungry, lol.

A friend of mine sells RVs, and they donated some for Isbell, Sheryl, Mavis, etc to use in return for letting them set up to advertise and some free tickets. So we got to go hop in the RV and take shots in the AC every now and then. Lol

We probably crossed paths then. We got there at the same time and set up in the shade by the river as well.

Got to eat at Ricatoni's for the first time in several years. As good as I remembered, but it was well into Amanda's set before I could stomach a beer.

I was there and this was one of the best festivals I've ever been too. Huge JI fan. Looking forward to next year.

Where did they have it at? Down near the old MCA studio down on Alabama Ave.?

I think Rat Webster owns that place now, and this sounds right up his alley.

McFarland Park right on the river. Stage was set up right next to the lighthouse.
