I'm looking for a new amp that is a little more portable than my previous Fender Blues Deluxe. What are some good amps that are $300-$500? Anything that cheap for a tube?

How portable? You can get Rivera-era Concerts and such in that price range sometimes, but they're not smaller than your blues deluxe.

What about an old Vibro Champ or something?

Combo. Something simple, but with a solid sound and a nice reverb.

Portable enough to not be a pain in the arse to carry around.

Super Champ X2... Heard anything about that?

How many watts is the OP looking for?

30? 50? 100?

Ampeg vintage combo amps are incredible.

I think I'm going with the Ampeg GVT15-112 15W.. after reading some reviews, it sounds like one of the better options in my price range.

Got with a (used for your budget) Fender Blues Jr and run pedals into the amp for the tones you need. Hell the only pedals you should need for good clean fun rock n roll is an Ibanez TS-9, OCD & Dunlop Wah-Wah. I cannot think of anything "easier" to carry around tube amp wise.

They did, like 30 years ago. Sounds like you meant new-new, not just new to you. I love vintage tube amps.

I gig with the blues junior all the time. It's a great little workhorse.

I like my Fender Blues Deluxe but I feel like the Ampeg sounded a little warmer. Just picked up some scooped mid pickups for my strat and I'm going to lock myself in my room for a few days when that amp gets here.

I'd give you 300 for my little Fender amp, it's real portable.

That GVT looks like a great amp.

Invest in those pedals I mentioned above and that's all I'll need.

I've also found that around April-May, when kids are graduating college, is a good time to pick up gear for cheap. Kids are trying to liquidate themselves for a move.

I have a bigass Ceriatone Overtone Special combo amp. It is the only amp I'll ever need tone and power wise, but it is heavy as frick to move. Wish I had a smaller amp to take to jams.
