Trying to remember an old web site that featured mostly unsigned/unknown artists and bands

Circa late 90's early 2000's. Anyone remember this site and/or if it's still running or if there is one comparable to it?
It was all free (good luck finding that today right?) you could search it by genera or even states and local bands would come up and you could more times than not download a few of their songs. I stumbled across some really good artiest there.
No not Napster Lars, ya douche.... Napster was the shite but this was post Nap.
Anyway just reminiscing and that popped into my head.
TIA for anyone with less dementia than me.

I don't know that one but there is something that offers almost unlimited unsigned/unknown artists now - I think it is call Youthtube?
I have found dozens of new artists from all over the world and in all genres. Some incredible talent out there.
