Starting at :48? It's literally the exact same thing as the vocal lines from Viva La Vida. Satriani said he was driving in the car and Viva came on the radio and he was like "oh....that's my song."

Figured as much.
I just looked it up and it turns out that Satriani sued and got money out of a settlement. I don't remember any of that. I had just heard If I Could Fly today and was like damn, that sounds like Coldplay

Of course they did. One of the members actually said something to the effect of "some songs may sound like some stuff people have heard before" alluding to it beforehand.

Well, it isn't exactly the same. It just accents the same two or three notes, which can happen in music sometimes. I just went over both melody lines on the guitar and they are more different than what your ears hear.
Did they rip it off? I dunno. It's easy to stumble onto something like that.
EDIT: I actually heard a song that's opening chords were a dead ringer for a Yeah Yeah Yeah's song today while I was decreasing my life expectancy in Krystal.
