and the thing about the who has a better NYE show, is Trey could clearly be better and the tDB people would just tell me it sucks
I would post links for Burt where Trey KILLS it on guitar and he'd be like "meh". that's bullshite, and I won't engage in it.

What's there to discuss, Barber is better
He shredz better than Trey. He's done that from Day 1. This is like the Magner v. Page debate...Barber could do what Trey can do, but Trey can't do what Barber can do

trey is surrounded by talented musicians that make him sound good.
Hes a mediocre guitarist compared to Barber.
Barber is an elite improvisational shred master.

Broomfield will be better than both Miami or NY.

Phish would be nothing if it wasn't for one Ernest Anastasio the Third.

Is that a joke
Trey could do what Barber does in his sleep
Maybe I don't get it but I've heard enough tDB to know Barber ain't exactly doing cutting edge outside of the box sort of stuff

Not really
Magner uses a bunch of special effects that Page doesn't employ. Page utilizes much more conventional keyboard playing.
Barber and Trey have overall similar styles.
Just throwing this out there:
Trey playing the Dead > Barber playing the Dead
Trey w/ Phil and Friends (99 and 06) > Barber w/ The Rhythm Devils (14)

Brownie>Gordo
Barber>Trey
Page>Magner
Allen>Fishman
It's a draw

I don't know what's so funny about that claim...Even our resident Bass Player, Monsterballards says that Brownie is technically superior to Gordo
Posted on 12/22/14 at 2:45 pm to Spaulding Smails
I like his playing style better than gordo. he's a finger player and not a plectrum (pick) player which is fine for when you need it, but i think gordo uses it as a crutch IMO

i don't like when bassists use picks
Posted on 12/22/14 at 2:49 pm to CaptainPanic
there's a time and a place for it depending on the song and what it calls for. before I retired, I would use one for one of the songs we played live because it was needed for that one song. but to use a pick on literally every song is pretty lazy.
fact: the best bassists don't use a pick (save chris squier)
