Trent Reznor and his Nine Inch Nails bandmate Atticus Ross have received a CMA Award for their production credit on Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ hit “Old Town Road (Remix).” While the full ceremony airs tonight, the history-making song already picked up an early award for Musical Event of the Year, beating out tracks by Maren Morris, Brooks & Dunn, Garth Brooks and Blake Shelton, and Brantley Gilbert and Lindsay Ell.

Also, he won it for a rap song. If you told me Trent Reznor would win CMA's for rap, I'd have laughed at you.

Nah. Just a reflection of where music and pop country are at nowadays.

Old Town Road was insanely popular. It got an award for that popularity.

It set the record on the Billboard Top 100 at #1 for most consecutive weeks than Michael Jackson did.

I'm a big Trent Reznor fan, but he should be thoroughly ashamed of this and immediately commit suicide.

Here's how I see it: Most of new country artists( this doesn't include the few that really love country music) know that their music is crap. They took the easy road, and went to Nashville instead of trying to make it in the big game. Now they have an inferiority complex, when they compare themselves to the big artists of rock and such.
So how do they make themselves feel better? Drag a famous rocker down into the same hole as they are in. Then they can say " see, we're the same".

Do y'all just hate fun? Old Town Road I'd a great, fun song. I'll shite all over bro country because it's horrible and does nothing good for the genre, but OTR is a well produced crossover.

Lol what?

That song was kinda a cultural phenomenon. It was a massive hit, and everyone wanted to be a part of it.

Why must everything be that way?
